Certificate Maintenance
Welcome to the professional ranks of the Certified Nurse-Midwife and Certified Midwife. One of your professional responsibilities is to maintain current certification.
The Certificate Maintenance Program (CMP) is designed to assist CNMs/CMs to fulfill their professional responsibility to maintain competence.
If you were certified before January 1, 1996, you will be issued a time-limited certificate and will automatically be enrolled in the Certificate Maintenance Program (CMP), on January 1, 2011. For more information about the changes in certification and the new requirements, please visit: http://www.amcbmidwife.org/c/159/
If you were certified after January 1, 1996, please note that the certification cycle length has changed from eight years to five years. You will complete your current eight year certification cycle and by the end of your certification cycle, if you have met the CMP requirements, your certificate renewed will be renewed for a new five year cycle.
